Privacy Policy
How Oktnx handles data — short, plain, and honest.
Last updated: June 2026
Oktnx exists to champion analytics that respect people. It would be hypocritical to run this site any other way, so this policy is short, plain, and honest. Our website address is https://oktnx.com.
The short version
- We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand which articles are useful. No personal profiles, no cross-site tracking, no advertising cookies.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers.
- We only collect personal information you choose to give us — for example, when you send a message through our contact form.
Analytics
We measure aggregate, anonymous traffic (page views, referrers, country, device type) using a privacy-first analytics tool that does not set tracking cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. These numbers cannot be tied back to an individual visitor, which is exactly the point of this site.
Contact form
When you submit our contact form we collect the name, email address and message you provide, solely so we can reply to you. We keep that correspondence only as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then delete it. We never add you to a marketing list without your explicit consent.
Comments
If comments are enabled on an article and you leave one, we store the data shown in the comment form along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to display your avatar; see the Gravatar privacy policy for details.
Embedded content
Articles may include embedded content (for example videos or images) from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, and those sites may collect data about you under their own policies. We embed third-party content sparingly and prefer privacy-respecting sources where possible.
Cookies
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. The only cookies you may encounter are strictly functional — for instance a temporary cookie set by WordPress if you leave a comment and opt in to remembering your details, or login cookies if you are an administrator. None of these are used for tracking.
How long we keep data
Contact messages are retained only for as long as needed to resolve your enquiry. Comments and their metadata are retained so we can recognise follow-up comments. Registered users (administrators) can see, edit, or delete the personal information in their profile at any time.
Your rights
You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it, except where we are legally obliged to retain it. To exercise these rights, just contact us.
Where your data is sent
Contact and comment submissions may be checked through an automated spam-detection service. We do not transfer your personal data to advertising networks or data brokers — ever.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we’ll revise the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on this page.
